Tim Smith, Senior Advisor
Tim Smith has more than 20 years of experience in the health, intergovernmental, and tribal policy arenas. He has extensive experience with Medicaid managed care programs, having worked directly with California’s two major public health programs and most of its public health plans, and is expert at planning and executing strategic advocacy programs. He has published extensively on the subject of intergovernmental performance evaluation, and occasionally lectures on this and health policy topics at his graduate alma mater, the University of Southern California.
As a native of Los Angeles, he has given generously to various public boards and commissions. He has in recent years served as the co-chair of the Los Angeles Chamber of Commerce’s Health Policy Council and sat on the steering committee of the Covering Kids and Families Coalition. He also served on the Evaluation Committee of the California Mental Health Services Oversight and Accountability (Prop. 63) Commission and is a member of the Coro Foundation’s National Advisory Board.
He has a Bachelor of Arts in Linguistics from the University of California Davis, and a Masters Degree in Public Policy from the University of Southern California. He is a Coro Foundation Health Leadership Program graduate, as well as a graduate of the Los Angeles Chamber of Commerce’s Leadership L.A. Program. He currently lives in California. He is an avid cyclist and sailor, and has pursued his passions on most of the world’s seas and many of its continents.
